Hello Class of 2021,
We wanted to update you on our district’s decision to host future SAT tests. At this time, Bourne will not be administering any SAT tests due to the continuing concerns and restrictions around the spread of COVID. We understand that your SAT experience has been non-existent in most cases, with test date after test date being canceled, not just here but locally at other test centers as well. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused as you navigate your college admissions process, and we are sorry that most of you won’t get to participate in this rite of passage. While the ability to test has been impacted nationwide, we are finding that the vast majority of colleges and universities have gone test optional at this point. This means that SAT scores will not be considered or required as part of the admissions process. Some schools may require a short writing supplement in place of the test score, but most have eliminated the testing component entirely. Please be sure when you are filling out your applications, that you select test optional if prompted. We have heard lots of concerns from students and parents about how their applications will be reviewed without SAT scores and we want to reassure you that the absence of scores will not negatively impact your application. We have met with numerous admissions representatives from a variety of schools, and they have all said the same thing. You will not be at any disadvantage by not submitting test scores, and applications will be reviewed more holistically than ever. That being said, if it is still important to you, or in rare circumstances, required of you, to take an SAT test, there are a few local schools that are still scheduled to administer the December 5th SAT. The registration deadline is November 5th. Please log into your College Board account for more info if you are interested. As always, we are available to answer any questions you may have as you complete your applications. Feel free to reach out or set up a google meet with us! Thank you, Mrs. Iannucci & Ms. Christensen Comments are closed.
